There are four main parts of the brain that help us with that. Let's take a look!
1. Cerebrum The Cerebrum is the largest part of the brain. It is also commonly known as the Cortex. It is responsible for action and thought processing. The Cerebrum is divided into four lobes those lobes are: 1. The Frontal Lobe 2.The Parietal Lobe 3.The Occipital Lobe 4.The Temporal Lobe 2. Cerebellum The Cerebellum is well known as the Little Brain. It has a highly folded surface and is distributed into to hemispheres. It is responsible for functions like balance, posture and coordination of movement. Even though it is smaller in size, it has even more neurons the the entire brain itself! The Cerebellum is located on the back of the brain stem and also on the top of the pons. 3. Limbic system The Limbic system lies on the inside of the cerebrum. Sometimes it is called the Emotional Brain because it is in charge of all of our emotion functions. 4. Brain Stem The Brain Stem is located underneath the limbic system. It is in charge of supervising very important things like blood pressure, breathing, and heartbeat That's all for now! -Meg :) We all have seen the little curved marking on our fingers. How are they formed on our fingers? Why do we have them? Well, the answers are all here!
Unlike most of the wrinkles on our body, we don't have fingerprints because of a repeated motion. Everyones' fingerprints are unique, but scientist aren't exactly, precisely, sure why we have them. Well, one reason we might have them is because they actually improve our sense of touch. The groves on our fingers actually send out vibrations to help us feel it. This is not the only reason that we have fingerprints, in fact it's one of many. But sadly, that's all for now! -Meg :) Hey everyone! It is Braelynn. I am here today to tell you about the history of origami. I mean, EVERYONE knows that origami is JUST folding paper to make things, right? NO!!! NOT AT ALL!!!!! "Paper was first invented in China around 105 A.D., and was brought to Japan by monks in the sixth century. Handmade paper was a luxury item only available to a few, and paper folding in ancient Japan was strictly for ceremonial purposes, often religious in nature."(www.pbs.org/independentlens/between-the-folds/history.htm) So clearly, origami is NOT just the folding of paper to make things. But, if you DO want to make cool easy origami, check out this site, and next week, we will show you out results for the "Origami Cat Challange" requested by Reese Polen next week (WISH US LUCK!!!) A little twist we are going to do though is that we are making them look like warrior cats!!!!!!!
LINK: http://www.origami-instructions.com/origami-cat.html MORE ABOUT WARRIOR CATS: http://warriors.wikia.com/wiki/Warriors_Cats_Wiki Hi, it's Meg, and right know we are having an electronics party at school. I brought my tablet, but got bored, so now I am going to give you some random information! If you live in the state of Ohio you may have noticed that there were barely any bees last summer! This is because some farmers have started using chemicals as fertilizer. So, now that they use this when all the bees come to pollinate the plants they die. :'( So, people like me and my family who use traditional tools to garden have bad luck. Last summer, our garden, that took up a lot of space in our five acres of land, completely died! We use our garden for food storage to prepare ourselves, so we wouldn't have anything for emergency food if the Ebola outbreak ended up getting spread and no one was allowed in public areas alike to a grocery store or mall. (Thankfully, nothing happened.) Hopefully, next gardening season, those farmers have learned their lesson and won't do it again!
